MISSION
Islamic College for Advanced Studies believes that contemporary world is meeting some more complicated challenges which demands deep concern, evaluated insight, reflective wisdom, and profound religious thought from the Islamic world.
The college holds that philosophical and rational approaches in religious, especially Islamic studies would be beneficial in order to meet the above-mentioned purposes. Originally established in London (in 1999), ICAS grew and founded its branch in Jakarta.

The ICAS-Jakarta develops education and research in scientific, rational, and philosophical approaches to the Islamic thought. In this regard, it provides high-level Islamic education by enrichment Islamic thought and civilization with contemporary thoughts, cultures, and civilizations.

Dialogue is the key approach of the college. In addition to constructing a balanced dialogue between Islamic civilization and other civilizations in the world, the college seeks to establish dialogues between philosophy and religion, philosophy and science, religion and science, philosophy and mysticism, and mysticism and religious jurisprudence.


PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES In order to meet those purposes and establish the said dialogues, the college presents several programs and activities as follows:

Education, especially presenting MA courses in corporation with Paramadina University.
Research and literature study.
Publishing.
Short-Courses on various aspects of religion, philosophy, and science.
Seminars and Conferences.

CURRICULUM The official language of the college in all educational aspects is English. Both Master’s courses, each consisting of 44 credits (icluding 8 credits for seminar and thesis), are to be completed in a period of four semesters.

TUITION FEE Tuition fee is Rp. 3.500.000 per semester. The college provides scholarship for tuition fee only for students who fulfil the requirements of the scholarship scheme. The scholarship scheme is based on academic achievement ,i.e., the Grade Point Average (GPA):
GPA: 3.50 – 3.69 receives 25 % scholarship
GPA: 3.70 – 3.89 receives 50 % scholarship
GPA: 3.90 – 3.99 receives 75 % scholarship
GPA: 4.00 – receives 100 % scholarship


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Any applicant must meet entry requirements as listed below:

Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.
Completes the Applications Form
Fulfils the Examination requirement (the Exam comprises Academic Potential Test, English test and Interview)
Accepts the College’s Code of Conduct
The college admits at most 35 students every year in any MA course.

· Interview: Friday-Saturday, April 25-26, 2008, at 10.00 am – end (The schedule of the interview will be determined by the committee).
3. The announcement of the result of entrance test: Mai 3, 2008.
4. The Re-registration period of the student who has passed the Entrance Test will be held: on Mai 3 -- Mai 17 , 2008.
5. The course start on June 6, 2008.
6. The course will be held at Friday and Saturday (at 9 am to 5 pm)

The Third European Summer School on Hydrogen Safety - 2008

The Third European Summer School on Hydrogen Safety will be held at the
University of Ulster (Belfast, UK) from 21 - 30 July, 2008. This Summer
School is funded by the European Commission under the HyCourse project
(March 2006 - February 2010).
The topical content of the School covers the
whole spectrum of activities of the European Network of Excellence HySafe
"Safety of Hydrogen as an Energy Carrier" and complies with the
International Curriculum on Hydrogen Safety Engineering. The state-of-the
art in Hydrogen Safety will be covered from fundamentals to applications and
topics included: hydrogen release, mixing, and distribution; thermal,
pressure and missile effects from fires and explosions; development and
validation of mitigation techniques; safety assessment and risk analysis;
and standards, guidelines and legal requirements. The teaching materials of
this Summer School are used in World's First Higher Educational Programme in
Hydrogen Safety Engineering.

How to Apply for the Summer School

Download the application form (.doc format, .pdf format) and return this
together with your CV by post, fax or email to ESSHS@ulster. ac.uk. The
latest deadline for the submission of the application form and CV is the
11th of June 2008 - early application is advised since places will fill up
rapidly.

Sixty applicants are selected for funding by this EC-funded project: 33 with
research experience of up to 4 full time equivalent years, 25 with research
experience from 4 to 10 years and 2 with experience of more than 10 years.
The number of research years is counted from the date of obtaining the
degree giving access to doctoral studies without having to acquire any
further qualifications.
· Funded applicants are exempted from payment of the registration fee to
attend the lectures and will benefit from the following: reimbursement of
travel costs up to €240 (for applicants with up to 10 years of research
experience) and €478 (for applicants with more than 10 years of research
experience); reimbursement of living costs (accommodation, meals) up to €105
per day, a delegate pack, etc. Please take notice of the conditions for
being a ESSHS funded delegate.
· Self-funded participants will pay a registration fee €800 to attend the
lectures of Summer School (incl. delegate pack with lecture notes etc.) and
have to complete Registration before the 6th of July 2008. Self-funded
participants are to cover their own travel and living costs.

Selection criteria
· Applicants should have a first degree (enabling them to undertake doctoral
studies).
· Applicants need to have real involvement with the Hydrogen industry,
research or similar, especially safety.
· Applicants who are a member of one of the EU Hydrogen projects – e.g.
HySafe, HYWAYS, HySAFEST, HYPER, NATURALHY, StorHy, HarmonHy, HYDROGEN,
HYTRAIN, etc. are encouraged to apply.
· Applicants who are undertaking or about to undertake higher education in
Hydrogen Safety (e.g. registered with the Master of Science in Hydrogen
Safety Engineering) will be given preference.
· A maximum of 30% of applicants from any one country.
· Women are encouraged to apply to meet the target of 40% of total
applicants.
· Preference is given to young researchers with up to 4 years research
experience – then preference to researchers with more than 4 but less than
10 years experience.

· "This action will primarily be directed at early stage researchers. More
experienced researchers will also be able to benefit from this action where
the possibilities offered in the contract are not used for early stage
researchers. Researchers with more than 10 years of research experience

awarded, will not be eligible for support, except in the case of researchers
who are nationals of Member States, or Associated States active outside

anggota Palang Merah Remaja (PMR) dan Relawan PMI untuk belajar di
International Humanitarian Institute, Hanseo University, sebuah perguruan
tinggi di kota Chungnam, Korea.
Adapun persyaratan bagi yang berminat antara
lain; (a) di bawah umur 21 tahun, (b) menguasai bahasa Inggris, (c) Lulus
sekolah (SD, SMP dan SMA atau yang sederajat) yang diselesaikan selama 12

The School of Languages and Social Sciences at Aston University is offering
a PhD Studentship in Corpus Linguistics. The School's vibrant research
culture (Grade 5 rating in the last RAE) - and the rapidly expanding cohort
of full-time research students - provides a stimulating intellectual
environment.

The previous holder of this Studentship has obtained an Arts and Humanities
Research Council (AHRC) postgraduate doctoral award, hence we are able to
offer the remaining funds to another candidate, who will be similarly
supported in applying for an externally funded postgraduate doctoral award
to cover the rest of her/his PhD research beyond July 2009.

The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible, to
make maximum use of the available funds.

Candidates should have a Masters degree in a relevant subject area, and a
condition of the award is that the candidate must be willing to work for up
to 6 hours per week on the Aston Corpus Network (ACORN) project. ACORN
(http://acorn. aston.ac. uk) currently contains over 200 million words of
texts in English, French, German, Spanish, and pedagogically- oriented
software and web interfaces for language teaching and learning and
translation studies.

The Studentship consists of maintenance at AHRC rates (£12,600 for 2007-8;
2008-9 rate not yet announced) until July 31st 2009, and the waiving of
University fees until July 31st 2009 at the EU rate (£3240 in 2007-8;
2008-9 fee of £3300 is awaiting approval). A non-EU student will have to
pay the difference (c. £5-6000 per year) between EU fees and non-EU fees
(£8,980 for 2007-8).

If you are not a native speaker of English, proof of English language
competence will be necessary, usually in the form of a Test Of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System
(IELTS) test score. The minimum test scores are as follows:
TOEFL: 610 (paper-based) or 253 (computer-based) or 101/102 (Internet-based)
IELTS: 7.0 (minimum 7.0 in writing, and 6.0 in speaking, listening and reading)

The PhD positions focus on multi-phase transport of heat and mass in
complex media. This involves the dynamics of large ensembles of small
droplets in a gas flow through a domain with complex shape. The droplets
undergo phase transition, i.e., evaporation and condensation, and
chemical transformations. In addition, the droplets mutually collide,
leading to break-up or coalescence. The individual projects share a
mathematical- physical multiscale modeling strategy, which is at the
heart of research at the MMS group. Separate projects are:

* PhD1: Multiscale heat and mass transport in porous plugs
* PhD2: Aerosol dynamics in complex domains
* PhD3: Control of aerosol migration with temperature gradients

These projects will be conducted in a collaboration with international
industrial partners.

The chair MMS is part of the Applied Analysis and Computational Sciences
(AACS) cluster at the Department of Applied Mathematics of EEMCS, the
Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences.
The research at MMS is embedded in the mechanics institute IMPACT at UT,
in the J.M. Burgers Center for Fluid Mechanics in the Netherlands and in
the recently established Dutch Center of Excellence 'Fluids and Solids'.
In the MMS group pioneering research is conducted in mathematics,
physics and computational science. This is applied to fluid mechanics
problems in nature and technology both at very large and very small
scales. Emphasis is on problems related to energy, environment and

PPSDMS (Program Pembinaan Sumber Daya Manusia Strategis) merupakan institusi non-partisan, non-profit, terbuka, profesional, relijius, dan kebersamaan. Lembaga ini berada di bawah naungan Yayasan Bina Nurul Fikri yang melakukan aktifitas seleksi dan rekrutmen serta pembinaan terpadu kepada mahasiswa berprestasi dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Peserta yang direkrut berpengalaman dalam organisasi dan memiliki kepedulian sosial tinggi. Semua kegiatan PPSDMS dilaporkan kepada publik secara terbuka dan bertanggung jawab, serta seluruh aktifitasnya dipersembahkan untuk kepentingan bangsa dan negara.

Peserta program akan memperoleh beasiswa senilai
Rp 1.200.000,- (satu juta dua ratus ribu rupiah) per bulan

As part of a major expansion in research activity the University has announced the
immediate availability of 125 fee-waiver scholarships for postgraduate research students
with a further 125 to be made available in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. The scholarships
are available in all Schools, for all areas of research, and are open to Home/EU and
International applicants who lack funding but have outstanding academic merit and
excellent research potential. The scheme supports only full-time postgraduate research
students and is not available for undergraduate or postgraduate taught courses. We
anticipate that each year 75 of the scholarships will waive 100% of tuition fees and 50
scholarships will waive 50% of tuition fees.

Applicants must be able to fund all living costs and any bench fees.

1.. Apakah IELSP itu?

Indonesia English Language Study Program adalah program beasiswa yang menawarkan kesempatan untuk mengikuti kursus Bahasa Inggris di universitas-universitas di Amerika Serikat selama 8 (delapan) minggu.

Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris peserta, khususnya dalam English for Academic Purposes. Selain itu,peserta akan memiliki kesempatan untuk mempelajari secara langsung kebudayaan dan masyarakat Amerika Serikat karena peserta akan mengikuti program immersion dalam kelas internasional dimana mereka akan bergabung dengan peserta lain dari berbagai bangsa dan negara. Dalam program ini,
peserta tidak hanya akan belajar Bahasa Inggris, namun juga akan mengikuti
berbagai program kultural yang akan memberikan pengalaman yang sangat berharga.

2.. Siapa yang berhak mendaftar?


IELSP terbuka untuk mereka yang berumur 19 - 24 tahun dan masih aktif sebagai mahasiswa S1 minimal tahun ketiga (semester 5 keatas) di perguruan tinggi mana pun di Indonesia dari berbagai jurusan. Pendaftar juga harus memiliki kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang baik yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai TOEFL? baik International TOEFL? atau TOEFL? ITP minimal 470.
Peserta terpilih juga harus bersedia untuk meninggalkan kuliah di tanah air selama 8 minggu karena akan mengikuti kursus intensif di Amerika Serikat selama waktu tersebut.

3.. Apa saja persyaratannya?


- berumur 19 - 24 tahun, dan
- aktif sebagai mahasiswa S1 minimal tahun ketiga (semester 5 keatas) di perguruan tinggi manapun di seluruh Indonesia (belum menempuh sidang kelulusan)
- memiliki kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang baik yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai TOEFL? baik International TOEFL? atau TOEFL? ITP minimal 470 (bukan Prediction Test)
- memiliki prestasi akademik yang baik
- aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan atau organisasi
- memiliki komitmen penuh untuk segera kembali ke tanah air segera setelah program ini selesai
- tidak memiliki pengalaman belajar di Amerika Serikat atau negara lain selain Indonesia
- memiliki sifat-sifat: aktif, mandiri, bertanggung jawab, percaya diri dan berpikiran luas.

4.. Bagaimana cara mendaftar?


Untuk mendaftar, dapat mengambil formulir di kantor Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF), Menara Imperium Lt. 28 Suite B, Jl. HR Rasuna Said Kav 1, Jakarta 12980. Formulir juga dapat di-download dari website IIEF di www.iief.or.id. Formulir boleh di fotokopi.

5.. Dokumen apa saja yang harus disertakan dalam formulir pendaftaran?


Pendaftar harus melampirkan dokumen-dokumen berikut dalam formulir pendaftaran yang telah dilengkapi:

- 1 (satu) buah pasfoto berwarna ukuran 4x6
- 1 (satu) buah fotokopi Kartu Identitas (KTP)
- 1 (satu) buah surat keterangan resmi dari universitas bahwa yang bersangkutan masih aktif terdaftar di universitas tersebut
- transkrip nilai dari semester 1
- 1 (satu) buah fotokopi Ijazah SMA (tidak perlu diterjemahkan)

Doctoral Scholarships for the Graduate College "The Economics of
Innovative Change"

Friedrich-Schiller- University Jena (Germany)
The Graduate College / Graduiertenkolleg “The Economics of Innovative
Change” (Die Ökonomik des innovativen Wandels) started on October 1st,
2006 at the Department of Economics of the Friedrich-Schiller- University
Jena in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute of Economics, Jena.
The program is funded by the German Science Foundation. It offers top
level graduated students the opportunity to achieve a doctoral degree
(PhD) in economics. Meanwhile the research group comprises 38 PhD
students. Continuous enrollment in the program is possible.

The Graduate College offers several scholarships for doctoral students
(duration of 2+1 years) with a background in economics and business
administration. The Research Training Group “The Economics of Innovative
Change“ will address unresolved questions and problems concerning the
economic dynamics of firms, markets, sectors and regions with an
analytical focus on the endogenous driving forces mainly understood as
the activities of invention and innovation. The variety of topics that
is dealt with covers the foundations of individual behavior and the
economic and institutional environment, the generation of innovations
together with the organizational forms of activities of invention and
innovations, the change of the sectoral structures caused by
innovations, the role of the demand side in this context, as well as the
political management of change.

The scholarship positions require a permanent and active participation
in the study and the research program of the research training group.
Therefore all scholarship holders are expected to choose Jena as their
place of residence.

The department of Financial Economics at Ghent University has one or
more positions available for research assistants or doctoral students in
the fields of financial economics, in particular in microeconomics of
banking or empirical banking.

The research assistants or doctoral students have to provide some
support for the courses on banking and management of financial
institutions. The most important task, however, is the preparation of a
PhD dissertation in financial economics under the supervision of Prof
dr. Vander Vennet and dr. Olivier De Jonghe.

Utrecht School of Economics (Netherlands)

Utrecht School of Economics (USE) of Utrecht University is the newest
economics department in the Netherlands. It is part of the Law,
Economics and Governance Faculty of one of the country’s most reputable
research universities. USE endeavours world-standard teaching and
research while encouraging multidisciplinary economic approaches and
giving special attention to the institutional, historical and spatial
dimensions of economics. USE crosses disciplinary borders by
collaborating actively with the faculties of Law, Geography, Social
Science and History. USE maintains active international relationships
and teaches its curricula in both Dutch and English.
Currently, we have a job opening for a

PhD researcher (in Dutch: Assistent-in- Opleiding) 1.0 fte for four years

The PhD position is in the group of the Chair of Institutional
Economics. Research will be embedded in USE’s Tjalling Koopmans
Institute (TKI). TKI offers a structured training programme, which the
candidate is expected to complete.

The research will focus on the impact of works councils on the
performance of organizations, in both the for-profit and the
not-for-profit sector. An important question relates to the conditions
under which a works council’s involvement is productive or
counterproductive. Within the Institutional Economics group, a number of
questionnaire- based Dutch datasets are available for this. Theory-based
quantitative analyses of these datasets are envisioned. Moreover, new
tailor-made data will have to be collected in due course. An MSc degree
in one of the Social Sciences (e.g., Economics, Psychology or Sociology)
is required, as is an ambition to carry out top-notch research.

We offer temporary employment of 1.0 fte (four years) in a stimulating
research climate and an enjoyable working environment in the inner-city
of Utrecht, the Netherlands. The appointee is expected to complete all
requirements for the PhD degree within this period. The salary for a
full time appointment is € 2,000.- gross per month in the first year and
is expected to increase to € 2,558- in the fourth year, contingent on
satisfactory performance. Good secondary benefits.
