A. MENGENAI ILA
Indonesia Leadership Awards adakah program beasiswa yang diperuntukan bagi anak-anak bangsa terbaik, lulusan
sekolah menengah atas/sederajat untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya di universitas terbaik di dunia. Untuk tahun 2012
ini, ada tiga universitas mitra untuk program ILA yaitu Kyoto University, Nagoya University dan Tohoku University.
B. PERSYARATAN
1. Sehat jasmani dan rohani.
2. Bebas narkoba.
3. Untuk Lulusan tahun 2011 Nilai Rata Rata U.N Matematika, Fisika dan Kimia > 7,5 (kelompok A) dan Nilai Ratarata Matematika, Kimia dan Biologi >7,5 (kelompok B)
Untuk yang akan lulus Nilai Raport Kelas 2 adalah Matematika, Fisika dan Kimia > 7,5 (kelompok A) dan Nilai
Rata-rata Matematika, Kimia dan Biologi >7,5 (kelompok B)
Untuk kelompok A dan B lihat bagian Beasiswa dan Program studi.
4. Umur tidak lebih dari 21 tahun pada tanggal 1 Oktober 2012 (lahir tidak lebih awal dari tanggal 1 Oktober 1991).
5. Belum menikah dan bersedia tidak menikah selama mengikuti pendidikan
6. Tidak sedang menjalankan ikatan dinas dengan instansi lain.
7. Bersedia mematuhi peraturan dari Lembaga Nan-Unggul Indonesia, Universitas Partner dan para donor.
8. Bersedia menandatangani Surat Kontrak Beasiswa bagi yang dinyatakan lulus seleksi
C. SELEKSI
Seleksi akan dilaksanakan tiga tahap
1. Seleksi tahap 1 : Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, Bahasa Inggris (kelompok A)
Matematika, Biologi, Kimia, Bahasa Inggris (kelompok B)
( 60 soal pilihan ganda waktu 150 menit ).
Lima (5) Peserta terbaik masing-masing wilayah dan 25 peserta terbaik secara nasional akan lolos ke seleksi

2. Seleksi tahap 2 : Bahasa Inggris (IELTS) dan interview dengan Lembaga Nan-Unggul dan donor
3. Seleksi tahap 3 : Interview dengan Universitas Partner (Kyoto University, Nagoya University dan Tohoku
University)
D. BIAYA SELEKSI
Rp. 250.000,- (dua ratus lima puluh ribu rupiah), dibayarkan ke rekening Yayasan Nobel Indonesia, baik melalui
ATM, setoran tunai, SMS Banking, maupun internet Banking. (lebih disarankan via atm dan setoran tunai). Biaya
yang telah disetor tersebut, tidak dapat ditarik kembali dengan alasan apa pun.

2. Peserta kemudian mengisi formulir dengan informasi yang akurat dan dapat dipertanggungjawabk an kebenaranya.
3. Calon peserta membayar biaya seleksi ke rekening Yayasan Nobel Indonesia (No Rek : 102-00-0539082- 5 , Bank
Mandiri cabang Jakarta Senayan City) baik melalui Setoran Tunai, ATM, maupun M-Banking. (dianjurkan untuk
membayar melalui setoran tunai dan ATM).
4. Peserta mengembalikan Fomulir yang telah diisi dilengkapi dengan bukti pembayaran melalui email ke

F. LOKASI SELEKSI
Untuk Indonesian Leadership Awards 2011 Seleksi direncanakan akan dilaksanakan di Kota Jakarta, Bandung,
Semarang, Yogyakarta dan Surabaya, Medan, Padang, Makasar dan Palembang. Peserta silahkan memilih satu
diantara kota-kota yang disebutkan diatas pada formulir pendaftaran
Lokasi Seleksi (tempat dana alamat) akan diumumkan dihalaman web ini pada tanggal 1 Maret 2012 G. BEASISWA dan Program Studi
Empat peserta terbaik akan mendapatkan Full scholarship untuk melanjutkan kuliah di Program Global Engineering
Kyoto University Jepang.
Enam peserta terbaik akan mendapatkan Full scholarship untuk melanjutkan kuliah di Program Future Gloabl Leader,
Tohoku University, Jepang.
Sepuluh peserta terbaik akan mendapatkan Full scholarship untuk melanjutkan kuliah di Program Global 30- Nagoya
University.

Youth Action Net Global Fellowship Program

YouthActionNet incorporated in the year 2001 by the International Youth Foundation, it strengthens, support and celebrates the role of young people in leading positive change in their communities. Each year, 20 exceptional young social entrepreneurs are selected as YouthActionNet Global Fellows following a competitive application process.
The year-long Fellowship program includes:
A seven-day leadership retreat for twenty selected Fellows which offers dynamic peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and sharing among young visionaries
Focus on the personal growth and leadership abilities of Fellows, in addition to providing instruction in specific skills required to manage innovative, world-changing organizations
Year-round learning opportunities based on Fellows’ individual needs and the six dimensions of leadership highlighted in the Youth Action Net® Global Curriculum: Personal, Visionary, Political, Collaborative, Organizational, and Societal.
Eligibility
Open to all young people aged 18-29 (as of October 7, 2012)
Applicants should be founders of existing projects/organizations, or leading a project within an organization.
Proficiency in English is required; applications must be submitted in English
Must be available to attend full retreat (all expenses paid)in the secondweek of October 2012.

Peluang Beasiswa StuNed - Master Programme (Belanda)
StuNed, singkatan dari Studeren in Nederland atau studi di Belanda, adalah program beasiswa yang diberikan oleh pemerintah Belanda kepada para mid-career professional Indonesia sebagai bagian dari bentuk
kerjasama bilateral antara pemerintah Belanda dan Indonesia.
Program Beasiswa StuNed
Program StuNed merupakan bagian dari kebijakan kerja sama pembangunan pemerintah Belanda yang bertujuan untuk mendukung pencapaian "UN Millenium Development Goals" pada tahun 2015. Kerangka kerja sama
bilateral dengan Indonesia tercantum dalam Multi-Annual Policy Framework 2012 - 2015 yang memiliki 5 bidang yang diprioritaskan yaitu manajemen air (water management), ketahanan pangan (food security), sektor ekonomi (economy sector), sektot judisial (judicial sector), dan hak asasi manusia (human rights).
Program StuNed menitikberatkan pada pengembangan dan penguatan kapasitas institusi dalam rangka mendukung kelima bidang tersebut di atas.
Program beasiswa StuNed bertujuan membantu pembangunan Indonesia melalui peningkatan sumber daya manusia pada institusi-institusi di Indonesia. Melalui program beasiswa StuNed, para peminat individual
dapat mengikuti program master dan short course di Belanda. Sementara bagi institusi dapat mengajukan proposal untuk group application.
Persyaratan Umum
Warga Negara Indonesia, Dibuktikan dengan: fotokopi KTP atau Kartu Dinas Pegawai Negeri.
Diterima di salah satu program master yang diselenggarakan oleh institusi pendidikan tinggi di Belanda, Dibuktikan dengan: Surat penerimaan (admission letter) dari universitas di Belanda yang mencantumkan dengan jelas nama program studi, tanggal awal dan akhir program studi yang dipilih serta total biaya perkuliahan.
Pendidikan minimal S1 atau setara dan dapat menunjukkan bukti prestasi akademik (IPK min. 2,75); Dibuktikan dengan: transkrip dan ijazah yang dilegalisir dengan tanggal dan tahun kelulusan tercantum
didalamnya. Pengalaman kerja (setelah lulus S1) minimal 2 tahun di institusi terakhir, Dibuktikan dengan: Fotokopi Surat Keputusan pengangkatan pegawai (SK) atau kontrak kerja. Persetujuan dari institusi; Dibuktikan dengan: Pernyataan resmi dari pimpinan institusi di atas materai yang menyatakan bahwa stafnya
diizinkan untuk studi di Belanda. Pernyataan ini dituliskan di formulir StuNed.
Pernyataan bersedia mengikuti dan menyelesaikan seluruh perkuliahan selama menerima beasiswa yang dituliskan di formulir StuNed;
Memiliki kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang baik; Dibuktikan dengan: hasil Internet Based Test (IBT) TOEFL dengan skor minimal 79, atau IELTS minimal 6.0.
Riwayat hidup (Curriculum Vitae) dengan menggunakan formulir standar yang terdapat di website;
Prioritas diberikan untuk staf mitra kerja Kedutaan Besar Belanda;

Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika pada Tahun 2012 kembali membuka
kesempatan dan menyediakan beasiswa pendidikan S2 di luar negeri bagi
PNS di lembaga kementerian dan non-kementerian termasuk, anggota TNI/
POLRI, baik di lingkungan pemerintah pusat maupun pemerintah daerah,
lembaga pendidikan serta karyawan/karyawati swasta yang bekerja di
bidang TIK.
Persyaratan :
Lulusan sarjana (S1)
Memiliki IPK minimal 2.90 (dari skala 4)
Memiliki nilai Institutional TOEFL (ITP) minimal 570 atau IELTS minimal 6.5
Memiliki nilai Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) minimal 550
Mendapat ijin dari pejabat yang berwenang ( Bagi PNS minimal Pejabat
Eselon II, bagi dosen atau staf pengajar minimal Dekan, bagi

Bioinformatics analysis of complex DNA-sequencing data to assess microbial diversity in geological radioactive waste disposal environments (PhD)
Introduction
Recent developments in new high-throughput technologies have revolutionized molecular biology. This technological progress has led to an explosive growth of the biological information (e.g. via DNA sequencing, RNA microarrays, proteomics), creating new opportunities in the field of bioinformatics in order to computationally deal with the dramatic increase of data. More specifically, the recent availability of next-generation sequencing methods for DNA sequencing has opened up new horizons in microbial community analysis. Such 'metagenomics' applications allow the simultaneous high-throughput analysis of genetic material of most of the microbes present in a given sample, without the need for culturing the bacteria first. Over the last years, this approach has been used to reveal the complex microbial diversity in a wide range of previously unexplored environmental samples (e.g. oceans, human gut, etc.), and is certainly of interest for those environments
containing microorganisms that are difficult to be cultured under laboratory conditions. Deep subsurface geological clay formations, which were selected and currently studied as candidate host rocks for geological radioactive waste disposal (HADES, Boom clay, Belgium; and Mont Terri, Opalinus clay Swiss), can definitely be classified under these type of environments.
However, these high-throughput sequencing methods produce a massive amount of data. For example, today, one run on the HiSeq2000 sequencing platform of Illumina produces gigabytes of DNA sequencing data Moreover, the domain of next-generation sequencing data analysis is still maturing, and even more powerful sequencing methods are being developed. Therefore, next to important challenges on the molecular biology side (e.g. good quantity and quality DNA extraction from environmental samples), any metagenomic project will require reliable and high performance bioinformatics methods to extract the useful biological information out of these data. However, as the suitability of existing bioinformatics algorithms for the analysis of this type of new large-scale community data remains unknown (Caporaso et al., 2011), benchmarking and eventually adapting existing open-source algorithms (Schloss et al., 2009; Caporaso et al., 2010; Zhou et al., 2011), will be
needed.
Objectives
The objective of this PhD research is the development of a bioinformatics pipeline able to determine the microbial diversity in environmental samples based on the next-generation DNA-sequencing technologies.
As a proof of concept, the bioinformatics algorithms developed in this research proposal will be used to assess the presence of microbial activity in deep subsurface geological clay formations in the context of radioactive waste disposal (Boom and Opalinus clay). Preliminary results from our running projects (e.g. AWM PostDoc of Katinka Wouters at SCK•CEN, and Bitumen-Nitrate experiment in Mont Terri), indicate that complex microbial communities are present and active in the Boom and Opalinus clay, but that a significant fraction of these communities are 'novel' bacteria (not cultivated and not characterized or described yet), and their methods of survival in these clay layers and metabolic properties are unknown. Thus it is our interest to further explore these environments with cultivation- based and DNA-based technologies. First, a methodology focusing only the 16S rRNA genes, which are genetic markers for microbe identification and taxonomic
classification, will be developed. Second, the complete gene pool of the full microbial community will be analyzed, to assess the metabolic potential of the microbial population in the clay layers. The bioinformatics analysis of the DNA-sequencing data obtained from these kind of environments are challenging and will require optimization and adaptation of algorithms. As these data sets cannot be processed anymore with conventional bioinformatics tools, the adaptation and potentially development of novel algorithms will be needed.

4 Doctoral Positions in Agricultural Development at IAMO,
IAMO is seeking candidates for four doctoral student positions within the multidisciplinary project "Economic and natural potentials of agricultural production and carbon trade-offs in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Russia [EPIKUR]".
EPIKUR aims to estimate agricultural production potentials by combing spatially explicit crop growth models, land use allocation models, and farm-level efficiency analyses. EPIKUR is strongly connected to its partners from the study region and to international universities and research institutes. The project contributes to building a strong network for advancing the science and understanding of agricultural potentials in transition economies. All doctoral candidates are expected to complete dissertations of high scientific quality and policy impact.
Doctoral position 1 and 2:
Both doctoral positions aim at assessing the natural potentials of agricultural production across the region. Position 1 focuses on agricultural land resources and position 2 on agricultural productivity. Using spatially explicit modelling both doctoral candidates will assess current production and project future production potentials under scenarios of climate, technological, and farm structural changes in close cooperation with the other EPIKUR scientists.
Required qualifications and experience for positions 1 and 2:
• Outstanding Master's degree (or equivalent) in Agricultural Sciences, Geography, Applied Computer Sciences, or related disciplines
• Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and experience with geographic information systems and/or remote sensing
• Programming skills (e.g. C++, Java, Python) are an asset
Doctoral position 3 and 4:
Both doctoral positions aim at analysing the economics of the exploitation of agricultural production in the regions. Position 3 focuses on economic yield potentials given the current level of land use. Position 4 will build on that finding and investigate the economic benefits resulting of an increase and restructuring of farm inputs
Required qualifications and experience for position 3 and 4:
• Outstanding Master's degree (or equivalent) in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related discipline
• Strong interest in neoclassical production economics
• Strong analytical skills and experiences using econometric and statistical methods
All applicants are expected to meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
• Interest in agricultural development in transition economies
• Very good skills in oral and written English, skills in Russian are an additional asset
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
Terms of offer:
All positions are internationally recruited and the appointment will be for an initial period of three years, renewable depending on research performance. The salary is based on the TV-L E13 (50%) with the social benefits valid for public servants. Alternatively, a scholarship according to the Guidelines for the promotion of stays of visiting academics at IAMO will be granted. IAMO offers an international and collegial working environment with an excellent infrastructure.
